Thanks for sharing the story about Les Alize . We stayed there many times with our family . I stayed one year for 10 weeks in the large room upstairs and I loved Pastor Hodges

In 1987 we rented from Pastor Hodge and rented from him until Hurricane Irma in 2017. Hurricane Louis destroyed the original building and he added more apartments that were ready for us the following winter.
We watched his children grow up and he watched ours do the same. We were like family.
Les Alice’s was our happy place. He even named rooms after us. After Irma and some health issues, we have not been back. We miss it so much.
Mark, We remember when you lived in the building behind us. You have done a wonderful job preserving the Islands history.

I stumbled upon this article as I am searching for a home remedy for a very painful Sting I received over the weekend right above the knee from our friend Mr. J. Spaniard. This was such a good read that brought back memories of my encounter with hurricane Irma in St. John. I hope the island of St. Martin is well!

I got stung at Fort Amsterdam (rear doorway in the main relic of the building) on St Marten. The sting from the Jack Spaniards wasp is like getting stabbed with acid. Beware…they are very aggressive and defensive.
