Oral Histories at The Old House

Thanks to everyone who shared their story at the Oral History Station at The Old House after the historic march this past Saturday! And special thanks to Gisele Jermin for recording all these stories and Stéphie Gumbs for recording sentiments out in the crowd.

Oral traditions have been a key way of sharing knowledge in the Caribbean for centuries. Often this information is not represented in historical records. By recording oral histories, we can preserve people’s stories and voices for future generations.

If you have a story to share, come by the Oral History Station at the Endemic Animal Festival, 9am to noon this Saturday, April 27th at The Old House.

If you want to read some oral histories, check out our book, Stories of St. Martin

Below are a selection of photos of the oral history participants taken by photographer Gisele Jermin.
