Book Program

The Les Fruits de Mer association has developed the world’s largest collection of original educational materials about St. Martin. We have published over 50 books about St. Martin. We have created engaging materials for all ages. They cover a wide range of subjects, from plants, wildlife and sea life to oral history and local literature.

Our long-term goal is to provide a book about St. Martin to every student on the island, every year they are in school. We have distributed over 60,000 books about St. Martin nature, heritage and culture to students, teachers and the public on St. Martin.

Our books explore local subjects that are often not part of the school curriculum. By featuring these local subjects, our books make learning fun and relevant to students. They also help build vital general skills, like reading and writing. To reach the broadest audience, we publish in English, French, Spanish and Dutch.

Books are also an important way to document St. Martin’s nature, heritage, and culture for future generations. We believe the books we are producing today will be valuable reference materials for the next century and beyond.

In addition to books written by Les Fruits de Mer, the association assists in the publication and distribution of culturally-important books by St. Martin authors. We also lead book-development workshops and have published a book about how to make an educational activity book.
