On Statia, nature is all around us. Everywhere you go, you can see amazing animals and plants. There are trees, vines and cacti. There are birds, bugs and lizards. And much more! Our island is their home.
There are turtles and fish in the sea. There are seabirds, crabs and coastal trees at the beach. There are geckos, snails and ferns in the forest. There are butterflies, bushes and birds right outside your home!
Some of our plants and animals live only here on Statia. They don’t live anywhere else in the world! Others live only on a few islands, or only in the Caribbean. That makes them special. We are lucky we are able to see them!
