This book collects twenty-two oral histories from eighteen elders about life on the island of St. Martin. In their own words, they describe St. Martin culture and traditions, historic events and meaningful moments in their lives. Through their stories, we are given a unique window into nine decades of life on St. Martin. During this time, there have been profound changes to the island and how people live. Their memories reveal St. Martin as it was, and why St. Martin’s culture is what it is today.
