St Martin is directly related to the sky and this picture shows clearly that spirit. Peace and tranquility of the land and the focus over the subtle point in the sky as airplane.

To me this photo shows how St. Martin is. Any day you can turn a corner and see something unexpected. Whenever I went to fill up with gas at a gas station by the French side bridge, the gas station has a pet goat who always can be found liming by the entrance door on a pile of concrete blocks.

The spirit of St Martin/St Maarten lies in our history, like these slave walls built by the strong, brave ancestors of so many. There are many all over the island. We pass them every day without really looking. So much of the island history has been lost but these slave walls remind us of what once was.

Trees fascinate me. The Silver buttonwood is a tree that has literally stood the test of time. I’m 45 years old and remember that tree from my childhood when we would go swimming at Mullet Bay and play around the golf course and lagoon. Whenever I drive by that tree, I smile.
